The Green Smoothie

I have a healthy little surprise for you today! It is a great way to get in some greens that you otherwise may not have the chance to get throughout your day (and I know I don’t get nearly enough). As long as you can get past swallowing down what slightly resembles Nickelodeon Slime, then you should be golden! I find that sipping it through a straw really helps me :) And, I probably shouldn’t have related it to slime, it is not at all like that….just really GREEN (and good!)

This smoothie has many good for you ingredients, and makes two mornings worth (if you drink 16 ounces).  It contains a half cup of water, 10 oz. bag of spinach, an apple, a pear and the juice from half a grapefruit. I also thought a banana would be good in there but didn’t have any on hand.

When it comes to making it, you first want to pour the water into a blender. Add in the spinach little by little until well blended. Then, remove the core and seeds from your apple and pear, and thinly slice (leaving on the skin). Throw those in the blender and take them for a little spin. Finally, juice the half of your grapefruit and add to the smoothie.

And that’s it! All done!

I like to pour mine in two mason jars and store in the fridge for up to two days.
